The Canadian Student Health Research Forum (CSHRF) will now be embedded within ICAM. ICAM will also bring together the Clinician Investigator Trainee Association of Canada/Canadian Society for Clinical Investigation Annual Symposium and MD PhD students and other Clinician Investigator Program Trainees from across Canada. We have developed a congress agenda that will thus integrate our basic-science trainees and our clinician-scientist trainees. This two-and-a-half-day stream of the congress will include keynote speakers, workshops, professional development, mentorship, and poster presentations by the trainees.

Since 1957, The Gairdner Foundation has distributed 402 awards for outstanding scientific research. Ninety-six Gairdner awardees have gone on to win the prestigious Nobel Prize. The Gairdner Laureates speaking at ICAM are:

Lindau Lecture

The Lindau Lecture is presented by the top PhD student as selected by the Canadian Student Health Research Forum (CSHRF) who had the opportunity to attend the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings, held in Germany. The Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings provide a globally recognized forum for exchange between Nobel Laureates and young scientists and inspire scientific generations around the world. This year, Dr. Kevin Wang will be the Lindau speaker at ICAM on April 13.

Joe Doupe Young Investigator Award and Lecture

The Joe Doupe Young Investigator award is given to a health scientist that demonstrates excellence in research training and has accomplished a significant and innovative study in the initial stages of their independent academic appointment. This lectureship is an excellent opportunity for research trainees to engage with the speaker, enhance their scientific knowledge, hear about the success, career choices and trajectory from someone who has similar training themselves.
