The AFMC's Board of Directors is constituted of 21 Directors including the Deans of the 17 Faculties of Medicine and four public members. By including members of the public on its Board of Directors, the AFMC benefits from the input of experienced leaders that bring important perspectives for the advancement of academic medicine in Canada.

Virtual interviews for all subspecialty matches

The AFMC Board approved that going forward all interviews for the Medicine Subspecialty Match, Pediatric Subspecialty Match and Family Medicine, Enhanced Skills Match will be in a virtual format including those for local candidates.

AFMC Awards Nominations Period is Open

The AFMC Awards recognize and celebrate distinguished individuals for their leadership, excellence, and achievements in academic medicine. Nominations are open for the 2024 AFMC Awards. Deadline for nominations is October 15, 2023. Learn more: https://www.staging.afmc.ca/awards/.

ICAM Medical Education Abstract Submission Process is Now Open

Culture of Academic Medicine Initiative

Thanks to a grant from the Physician Wellness+Initiative, an initiative by Scotiabank, the Canadian Medical Association (CMA), and MD Financial Management (MD), AFMC and the Canadian Federation of Medical Students (CFMS) have been working together to address the urgent and ongoing health and wellness needs of physicians, researchers, administrators and learners. A new website was launched in support of this initiative: cami-icmu.ca. Learners, faculty, staff, and patients are asked to share an experience that has impacted them in a meaningful way as part of the initiative.
